How does one show the text in the .dbf on the output map of a shapefile? For example, with a county shapefile, how does one output (show) the names of individual counties on the shapefile map? I would like each county, or municipality, etc. labeled on my shapefile. The names of the counites, etc. are in the dbf file. How does one output the names?

If you view your map in the
If you view your map in the Design view (click the "Design" tab in the lower right hand corner) then click "OK" button to bring your map onto the screen. Next click the "TXT" button on the toolbar. Add whatever name/label you want then click on the map where you want the label to appear.
